Nagpahayag sa publiko si Vice President Leni Robredo na patawan ng nararapat na parusa ang mga taong nang-aabuso ng kababaihan.
Kaugnay ito ng balitang nagpakalat umano ng mahahalay na litrato ng ilang babaeng estudyante ang anim na graduating students ng Philippine Science High School (PSHS). (Basahin: 6 graduating PHSH student, nahaharap sa expulsion kaugnay ng cybercrime)
“Perhaps we should not be surprised that even in a community of our nation’s brightest young minds, the poor treatment of women, at the hands of even those they trusted as intimates or friends, persists. The problem, after all, is not one of intelligence, but of culture,” ani Robredo.
Hinimok ng bise presidente ang publiko na gumawa ng “conscious, if difficult, choice” para baguhin ang laganap na kultura.
“That begins with calling out behavior that is disrespectful and abusive to women, and ensuring that it is appropriately sanctioned. Not making excuses for it, not attempting to justify it, but recognizing it for the injustice it is, and taking the necessary steps to ensure it is not repeated again,” aniya.
Hindi pinayagan ng PSHS Board of Trustees ang anim na estudyante na mag-martsa sa graduation ceremony, Miyerkules.
