Hinikayat ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon si Pangulong Duterte na isulong ng kanyang administrasyon ang batas na magbabawal sa political
dynasties upang mawakasan na ang
tunay na oligarkiya sa bansa.
Sa isang online media forum noong Miyerkoles, sinabi ni Drilon na ang
political dynasties ay ang tunay na
mga oligarch na siyang unang dapat
na buwagin sa bansa.
“We must review the whole structure, because the structure may in fact or make oligarchy easy to achieve…The lack of an anti-dynasty system or provision in our system allows oligarchy to continue,” sabi ni Drilon.
“They [political dynasties] wield power for their own benefit. It has gone so bad that these dynasties now hold simultaneous national and local positions,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay Drilon, “Oligarchy is a form of power structure in which power rests with a small number of people which use their power to seek personal gain or benefit their business interests,” sabi ni Drilon.
“You cannot equate rich and oligarch, meaning it does not mean that if you are rich, you are on oligarch. An oligarch is the one that influences the decision of the government or the one using their political power, their wealth in order that the policy that they want to protect their interest will be pursued,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Ginawa ni Drilon ang pahayag makaraang sabihin ng Pangulo na nabuwag na niya ang oligarkiya sa bansa na hindi nagdedeklara ng martial law.
Naniniwala ang senador na may kakayahan ang Pangulo na itulak ang pagpasa sa anti-political dynasty bill sa Kongreso lalo pa’t karamihan sa mga kongresista ay kaalyado nito.
Inamin din ng dating Justice secretary na nakasasama sa isang bansa ang oligarkiya kaya dapat bumuo ng mga polisiya na pipigil o tutuldok dito.
“Oligarchy is bad for our governance and, therefore, as a policy, yes, we should adopt policies to prevent or dismantle these oligarchies. But, let’s make sure that the oligarchs are not substituted by cronies,” ani Drilon.
Nakahanda, aniya, siyang makipagtulungan sa administrasyon upang repasuhin ang kasalukuyang sistema at gumawa ng mga batas na lulusaw sa lahat ng uri ng oligarkiya.
“I am willing to sit down with the Duterte administration to examine the laws that we have and find out which laws should be amended or which laws should be enacted in order that we can remove or dismantle structures that made possible the oligarchy.”
