The “KARITON” Family – On Foot From Quezon City to Camarines Sur – a Call and a Challenge to the Filipino Society

About 11 AM today – August 1, 2018 –

Mr. Jhun Collantes saw a family onboard a “kariton”.
The father was pushing the cart, with his wife and 3 children onboard.

They were bound for Bicol, said the father when asked by Mr. Collantes, who took photos of them. (not requested by the family as earlier reported. Correction clarified by Mr. Jhun Collantes.)

Mr. Collantes, immediately thought of sharing the photos to RadyoMaN Grace Inocentes – Naga City –based anchor of RMN Naga – DWNX.

Having thought of using the social media to reach-out to the hearts of everyone, RadyoMaN Grace Inocentes posted the scene on facebook.

Not long after, netizens began to show their melted hearts and responded by posting their comments on the fb post of RadyoMaN G.I. Many did share the post, too.

The post immediately went viral.

Mr. Rex Villegas of the Rotary Club of Metro Naga made some efforts, too…; and another Rotarian – Carmela Asaña-Acebedo – based in San Pablo City followed suit.

Accordingly, the family was living in Quezon City, whose house was demolished by the Quezon City government. The family received cash, But instead of spending the money for other needs, the father built a “kariton” to carry the wife, their children and their possessions – whatever the world may call them – on their way to Bicol.

He was running short of money to complete the “dreamed Kariton” that would carry his family to the “land of promise” – Camarines Sur.

The father added, John Lloyd Cruz came to the scene and helped. The money shared by the good actor was used to buy tires for the cart.

They braced themselves ready and set foot along the high-way from Quezon City to Camarines Sur.

This is just a piece, a small part of the sad story of the family –with no money, no help, nothing, except “perhaps God” and only themselves, that decided to travel to Bicol from Quezon City after a very dehumanizing experience in *Dan Brown’s gates of hell*.

And the rest of the story will be hitting the TVs and the Tabloids soon…

As of this time, the family is already onboard a bus bound for Bicol.

According to sources, the father is from Samar and the wife is a Bicolana.
