Manila, Philippines – Hindi kinumpirma ng Commission on Appointments o CA ang ad interim appointment ni Secretary Paulyn Ubial sa Department of Health.
Sa desisyong binasa ni CA Committee on Health ay ipinunto na masusi nilang pinagaralan ang lahat ng isyung inilatag ng mga tutol at pabor sa kumpirmasyon ni Ubial.
Umabot sa tatlo ang confirmation hearings para kay Ubial at kanina bago ang botohan ng mga miyembro ng CA sa pamamagitan ng executive session ay mangiyak-ngiyak si Ubial sa paglalahad ng makumpirma upang magampanan ang trabahong ipinagkatiwala sa kanya ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Kabilang sa mga oppositors o tumutol sa appointment ni Ubial ay sina Kabayan Representative Harry Roque, Atty. Restituto Mendoza, Potenciano Malvar, general Malvar Medical Foundation Director Miguel M. Malvar, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) employee Marie Fe Francisco at dating Philhealth Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Hildegardes Dineros.
May mga naging kwestyon din kay Ubial sina Senators Tito Sotto III at Manny Pacquiao at si Congresswoman Josephine Ramirez Sato.
Matapos ang pasya ng CA ay sinabi pa ni Senator Sotto na “Smoking is dangerous to your health, like lying is dangerous to your confirmation.”
Bago si Ubial ay nauna ng hindi kinumpirma ng CA sina dating Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto Yasay Jr., Environment Secretary Gina Lopez, Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo at Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano.
