Dengue outbreak declared in Iloilo province
Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. on Friday, July 5, issued an executive order declaring a dengue outbreak throughout the province of Iloilo.
“With the onset of the rainy season, there is a continuing rise of dengue fever cases in the entire province,” EO No. 016 states.
From January 1 to June 28, 2019, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) recorded 3, 897 dengue cases, including 18 deaths.
The figure was 788 percent higher compared to 439 cases in the same period a year ago.
Defensor directed all district and provincial hospitals to extend free services and necessary assistance to all dengue patients.
He also ordered all local government units (LGUs), through their city/municipal health officer, and barangay officials, to conduct a “Do Day Kontra Dengue Drive” every Saturday starting on July 6
