Malaybalay City, Bukidnon – National Food Authority (NFA) ensured there is no fake rice being distributed in the province. Based on the interview made by RMN Malaybalay with Provincial Director Gil Tabor, he stated that there is no confirmed case of fake rice contrary to the news being circulated in social media.
He added that Bukidnon is free from the fake rice distribution and that they did not receive any news from the province as of yet regarding the issue.
Tabor stated as well, that as he was surveying the province the past few days, the presence of fake rice is negative.
But even if it has been confirmed that there is no existing fake rice distribution in the market, he still gave tips on how to check and avoid this kind of rice.
He clarified that one telltale sign of fake rice is that it is whole, not broken and it appears plastic because it is mixed with other materials.
The Provincial Director also added that this is quite impossible since the plastic components of fake rice are in fact, expensive.
