Hiniling ng isang advocacy group na silipin ng Senado ang balitang isang Chinese na kumpanya lang ang namamahala sa Grande at Chiquita islands sa Subic, Zambales.
Sa isang statement, sinabi ng Kilos Pinoy Para Sa Pagbabago na imbestigahan ang Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) tungkol sa balita na ipinaupa ng mga ito ang 2 isla ng Pilipinas sa iisang kumpanyang Tsino.
Hiniling ng grupo kay Sen. Richard Gordon, chairman ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, na imbestigahan ang “report na isang Chinese firm lang ang umuupa sa Grande at Chiquita Islands sa Subic. Pwede ba ito? Dapat alam ito ng sambayanang Pilipino,” ayon sa Kilos Pinoy.
Dagdag ng grupo, “We have had enough on the intrusions in our exclusive economic zone. We cannot and should never allow intrusions right into the Philippine territory in the name of foreign investments and economic cooperation. “
Ang tinutukoy ng Kilos Pinoy ay ang sinasabing $298 milyon na proyekto ng GFTG Property Holdings at Sanya CEDF Sino-Philippine Investment Corp. kung saan ide-develop ang Grande at Chiquita islands na nasa pamamahala ng SBMA.
“Hindi for sale ang mga isla nh Pilipinas,” dagdag ng Kilos Pinoy.
Sa Cagayan, ang 10,000 ektaryang Fuga Island sa Aparri ay pinaplano umanong gawing isang “smart city” na magkakaroon umano ng $2 bilyon na investment.
Hiniling ng grupo kay Gordon na imbestigahan ang SBMA at CEZA ukol dito.
“We have sat idly by the intrusions in the Panatag Shoal, which the Chinese said is part of their 9-dash territorial claim, despite a UN Arbitral ruling in our favor,” sabi ng Kilos Pinoy. “If we give away Fuga, Chiquita and Grande which are well within our national territory, what’s next? Appari and the oil and natural resources rich Benham Rise in the Pacific?”
Noong isang taon, sinabi ni SBMA Chair Wilma Eisma na hindi muna itinuloy ang panukala ng Sanya CEDF Sino-Philippine Investment Corp. na magtayo ng mga hotel at iba pang pasilidad sa Grande at Chiquita islands dahil sa mga problema sa mga gagawing proyekto sa isla.
Ayon kay Eisma, nagpaplano ang kumpanya na magtayo ng 80 ultrahigh-end housing unit na nakalatag sa tubig sa kahabaan ng Grande coast hanggang sa Chiquita.
“This cannot be allowed because the Constitution limits the use and enjoyment of archipelagic waters exclusively to Filipino citizens,” wika ni Eisma.
Ayon sa Kilos Pinoy, “While we appreciate SBMA for talking on the matter, the same cannot be said of the CEZA which has been mum on developments at Fuga Island.”
“The Filipino public deserves full disclosure on this matter. Are the investments in these islands a go or no go,” ayon sa Kilos Pinoy na nagsabing walang transparency kung ano na ang nangyayari sa mga isla.
