Laoag City – Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc held a press briefing for the various programs and projects of the administration, and election campaign update at the Bonsai Garden of Provincial Capitol, earlier today.
The Governor talked about various projects and ongoing programs for the province. He also shared funds for different projects such as ₱30 Million for Bagsakan coming from the Department of Agriculture, ₱60 Million for Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital from the Office of the President, another ₱15 Million for the hospital came from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), and ₱30 Million for rehabilitation of bridges from the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
Manotoc also added another tangible project from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Port of Currimao and Laoag International Airport with a budget amounting to ₱370 Million and ₱128 Million, respectively.
He also highlighted in one of these huge projects the creation of an Intermodal Terminal that will soon rise in Laoag City amounting to ₱380 Million.
The provincial government’s assistance program continues to help our public utility drivers and rolled out ₱1,000 each for the tricycle drivers, ₱1,500 for the jeepney drivers, and they will have ₱50,000 accidental benefits.
On tourist influx in Ilocos Norte, the provincial tourism office recorded 800-900 tourists per day on its data, and more than 12,000 individuals came in March 2022. The governor was impressed by the data even if Ilocos Norte is still on alert level 1 on COVID-19 restrictions. He also notified the public about the guidelines from the IATF that remains status quo.

Meanwhile, Governor Matthew reacted in an interview about ‘squid tactics’ against them and said that “politicians must play fair and must practice clean and honest campaigns in the province. He believes that Ilocanos know, and tend to not forget scenarios.”
