iFMNews – Dr. Norman Rabago, Chief Executive Officer of Karmelli Hospital, led the official launching of the NO BALANCE BILLING, the first out of 13 private hospitals in the province.
Rabago emphasizes that they are not to compete with the government hospitals; they just augment the services that were not accommodated in other hospitals in the province.
Mr. Eduardo U. Dularte, PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) Head of Ilocos Norte, added that all sectors in ordinary and serious illnesses will be accommodated following the policy.
The No Balance Billing (NBB) policy was among the first policies of PhilHealth that aimed to drastically reduce patients’ out-of-pocket expenses to ensure financial risk protection for indigent, sponsored, domestic workers or kasambahay, senior citizens, and lifetime members.
According to the UHC Act, PhilHealth shall implement a cost-sharing scheme to include no co-payment, co-payment, and co-insurance schemes (Section 9, Chapter III, R.A. No. 11223). | via Bernard Ver, RMN News
