” In Sagñay, Camarines Sur alone, 30 dead. Many injured. 16 still missing. So heartbreaking to listen to many harrowing stories. Like that of a father who lost 10 of his family members -the bodies of 8 of his children later on found buried in the mud where their house once stood, with his wife and youngest child still missing, leaving only him and his 18-year-old son alive.
As we grieve for those we lost and of the families they left behind, our hearts also swell with gratitude to these tireless workers -DPWH Engineers and workers, members of the Phil Army, LGU officials and volunteers, who have been working round the clock, under sun and rain, unmindful of the pervading stench of dead bodies. There is still so much work to be done. Let us offer our prayers for their protection and thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”
