Bacolod Tay Tung High School and La Consolacion College Bacolod posted 2 wins apiece in the ongoing 1st Bacolod Inter-School Alumni Basketball League played at the St. John’s Institute gym.
In their opening game against USLS-Akasya Stingers, Carlo Chu led the Thunderbolts with 22 points, 18 in the final frame, as Thunderbolts pulled an 86-79 victory while RB Chua added 19 points – 12 made in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, Dominik Acosta and Nikos Cuenca anchored Stingers’ well-balanced offense with 12 and 11 points, respectively, as Ryan Concha and Japet Cua added 9 and 8 points apiece.
Tay Tung booked their second win in the tournament with a 72-66 triumph over St. John’s Institute 2 Falcons. Chu spearheaded a well-spread attack with 15 points, 10 in the first half. Peewee Demonteverde and Kevin Ramos, on the other hand, delivered 18 and 17 points each for the losing side.
It was Falcons’ second defeat after suffered an initial 80-72 loss to La Consolacion College-Bacolod Panthers which was anchored by Herb Abrot’s 16 points and Noel Peñas’ 11 markers – including 3 triples.
The Panthers booked their second win the league with a 96-93 escape in overtime against the Stingers- which earned their second loss. Shey Claridad led Panthers with 15 points as Tommy Andren added 13 points. Meanwhile, Paolo Cuenca spearheaded Seagulls with 14 points.
In the other games, St. Joseph School-La Salle Knights dominated Don Bosco Technical Institute Graywolves, 82-75 while SJI 1 outplayed Trinity Christian School Seagulls, 91-81.
