WV spikers take NCR in 2019 Palaro volleyball finals

WESTERN Visayas volleyball teams survived the tough semi-finals yesterday to arrange championship matches today in the ongoing 2019 Palarong Pambansa volleyball tournament in Davao City.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School-bannered WV secondary girls finally reached the Palaro finals after 5 years of trying.

The Blue Barons secured the finals berth after beating Eastern Visayas (Region 8) in the semi-finals: 25-16, 25-16 while dispatched Southern Tagalog (Region 4-A) in the quarterfinals: 25-11, 25-22.


Meanwhile, NCR easily downed host-Davao Region in the other semis match: 25-12, 28-26.

In the secondary boys, Living Stone International School-led team also entered the finals against NCR after escaping Central Luzon in the semis: 25-18, 23-25, 28-26 while outplayed SOCCSKSARGEN (Region 12) in the quarterfinals: 23-25, 25-19, 25-22.

NCR, on the other hand, defeated the home team of Davao Region during the semis: 15-18, 26-24.

In the elementary division, the Iloilo-based girls team also arranged a finals’ face-off against Southern Tagalog. This after disappointing NCR in the semis: 27-25, 25-22 while SOCCSKSARGEN: 25-19, 14-25, 25-21.

Southern Tagalog, meantime, survived a tough semis against Northern Mindanao: 21-25, 25-23, 26-24.

The Blue Barons, however, failed to make the finals in the elementary boys after they lost to Southern Tagalog: 25-17, 25-17.

Southern Tagalog will face NCR, which escaped Central Luzon: 12-25, 25-9, 25-19.
