Ilocos Norte Doctor receives Outstanding Filipino Physician Award

iFM Laoag – Ilocos Norte Board expresses profound appreciation and commendation to Dr. Norman Panfilo Gallardo Rabago of Laoag City, One of the Recipients of The Outstanding Filipino Physician (TOFP) 2022 Awarded by The Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Philippines.

The unnumbered resolution was signed by the board’s Presiding Officer and Vice-Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ilocos Norte.

Dr. Rabago helped the Provincial Government during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He received several challenges particularly in helping the local government in implementing strict compliances of the Department of Health (DOH), criticisms in social media, and in person. Despite of all negative situations he encountered, Rabago remained prim and proper.

Filipino doctors who have chosen to stay in the nation, have demonstrated their patriotism, dedication to the medical field, and for their wonderful caring and sharing, forsake higher earning professions abroad, are recognized by the award granting authority.

TOFP works to stop the country’s current medical brain drain while also recognizing and honoring outstanding medical professionals who provide excellent care to their fellow citizens, especially in rural areas where healthcare is most important.

A nominee doctor receives a total of 70 points for their humanitarian work (30 points), their contributions to the medical field (30 points), and any local or international accolades they have won (10 points). Professional excellence (20 points) and length of service in the Philippines account for the remaining 30 points (10 points). ### Bernard Ver, RMN News
