Pinagana ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) para kay Vice President elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Ayon kay AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres Centino, ang VPSPG ay isang dedikadong unit na magsisiguro sa kaligtasan at seguridad ng bise presidente ng Pilipinas at ng kaniyang pamilya.
Aniya, si Lt. Col. Rene Giroy ang magiging VPSPG group commander.
Ang VPSPG ay dating Vice Presidential Security Detachment na naka-attach sa Presidential Security Group (PSG).
Sa pag-activate nito, ang VPSPG ay isa na ngayong hiwalay na yunit at pinamumunuan ng isang O-6 grade officer o Colonel/Navy Captain.
