Bumuo ngayon ng specialized unit ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na tututok sa umuusbong na national security threats.
Ayon kay NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag, palalakasin ng unit ang kakayahan ng NBI na tumugon sa mga makabagong banta.
Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng Administrative Order No. 09, s. 2026 na nagtatag ng Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives and Foreign Malign Influence Unit sa ilalim ng Office of the Director ng NBI.
Kasama sa mga iimbestigahan ng unit ang mga bantang may kinalaman sa hazardous materials and explosives at foreign malign influence activities.
Kabilang dito ang disinformation, cyber manipulation, at covert interference.
Katuwang ng NBI ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), at international counterparts gaya ng INTERPOL.
