The Philippine Red Cross immediately activated its safety monitoring protocols after a Magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck west of Tuba, Benguet at 2:33 PM today, July 9, 2026.

The shallow quake caused strong shaking across the region, triggering an Intensity V in Baguio City and Intensity IV in Aringay, La Union.

“Our Baguio City Chapter staff and volunteers reacted instantly, executing orderly building evacuations to ensure everyone is safe and accounted for,” said PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon.

While experts are not expecting major damages or aftershocks, our Baguio City Chapter reported strong shaking that prompted precautionary evacuations. Teams safely cleared out of buildings and are currently monitoring public convergence zones, including the Melvin Jones Grandstand. No injuries or structural damages have been reported, and our teams remain alert and ready to assist.
