We have heard it many times, but it remains true – health is wealth! In the time of the pandemic, it became difficult for many Filipinos to sustain livelihood amidst the left and right lockdowns that greatly impacted the economy. Celebrating the Month of Nutrition this July, RMN Foundation (Foundation) partners with Virginia Food, Inc. (VFI) to deliver delicious and nutritious packed meals in various provinces where RMN operates through its AM and FM broadcasting stations.

The Foundation and VFI proudly started the initiative last July 22, 2021, which falls under Radyo Sustansaya, the corporate social responsibility program pillar of the Foundation which advocates sustainable health-related programs, services, and activities that support the healthy lives and well-being of Filipinos. On this day, RMN Malaybalay distributed packed meals in several areas of Malaybalay City, in Bukidnon as part of the Nutrition Month program, which follows the theme, “Kalusugan ay alagaan, Nutrisyon ay kamtan.” RMN Zamboanga, on the other hand, gave away 300 packed lunches for public transportation drivers at the checkpoint of Golf, Barangay Calarian, in Zamboanga City.

Continuously recognizing their perseverance despite the pandemic, another set of 300 public transportation drivers received the food packs from VFI together with RMN Cotabato and the Foundation in Cotabato City last July 23, 2021. Along with the food packs, RMN Cotabato distributed stickers for the drivers who came from seven barangays of the city.

The following day, July 24, 2021, RMN Pagadian delivered 300 packed lunches to tricycle drivers and operators in Pagadian City. With the resources from the Foundation, VFI, First Field Artillery Battalion, First Cavalry Battalion, and the Airport Police; the distribution proved to be inspiring for RMN Pagadian – to facilitate community outreach activities in the coming weeks as the RMN Network Inc. gears up for its 69th Founding Anniversary on August 28, 2021

The celebration of nutrition month through Radyo Sustansaya continued with more than 300 drivers in RMN Koronadal benefiting from the partnership between VFI and the Foundation. Making the most out of the generosity of donors, RMN Butuan launched a two-day activity last July 26 and 27, 2021, for the barangays of San Vicente and Holy Redeemer at Butuan. Dubbed as RMN Oplan Ayuda sa Pandemya, the program assisted 300 individuals on its first day, who are mostly children from barangay San Vicente, with the help of the barangay council and 4th Civil Military Operation Office of the Army. On its second day, 300 individuals composed of tricycle drivers, sikad drivers, terminal workers, and passengers received the packed lunch through the coordination and support by the Chairman of the Federation of Transport Organization in Butuan.

As we continue to value and support the efforts of our frontline personnel who serve selflessly in these trying times, last July 30, the Foundation and RMN DZXL 558 Manila, in partnership with VFI provided them with free packed lunches at the Marikina Sports Complex vaccination site. In addition, the  Foundation in collaboration with RMN Surigao, RMN Dipolog, and RMN General Santos is running a similar program across the country with hundreds of individual beneficiaries.

Throughout all these provincial efforts, the Foundation strictly observed the implementation of health and safety protocols in the places where the packed meals distributions happened, to assure that the individuals who participated in the program were not placed at risk, especially for the threat of the COVID-19.

The RMN Network is extremely appreciative of Virginia Foods, Inc. for the support and partnership with the Foundation’s Radyo Sustansaya program in celebration of Nutrition Month.
