PH Red Cross and Radio Mindanao Network Zamboanga hold bloodletting activity

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and Radio Mindanao Network Zamboanga held a bloodletting activity on September 14 in Zamboanga City in celebration of the 10th anniversary of RMN Foundation and the 70th anniversary of RMN Networks. Dubbed as RMN Dugtong Buhay 2022, the activity was a collaboration of the two organizations to give workers of RMN an opportunity to volunteer as blood donors and save lives. Eighty-three units of blood were collected, including those from walk-in participants from offices around the PRC Zamboanga City chapter, such as the Philippine Marines, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine National Police; these 83 blood units have the capability to save 249 people.

PRC Chairman and CEO Richard J. Gordon expressed his appreciation to RMN for its role in disseminating information about Red Cross services in the country and for its corporate social responsibility activities, which include blood donation. “I am proud that the Red Cross and the RMN Group fulfill their respective responsibilities, which result in our being able to help many people, especially the most vulnerable,” Gordon said.

From January 1 to September 14, 2022, the PRC dispensed 312,792 blood units to 170,202 patients in its 102 blood service facilities nationwide. For blood donations, blood requests, and other inquiries, email the PRC National Blood Services at nbs@redcross.org.ph or contact the PRC Blood Call Center, which may be reached nationwide by dialing 143.
